Fashion Trends 2018
09/08/2017
Fashion lovers rejoice! The first of the “big four” fashion weeks is here. New York is hosting the first round of shows from top designers showcasing their latest Spring/ Summer 2018 collections. Cue lots of Instagram stalking of hot celebrities and street style, and hours poring over each piece that makes its way down the catwalk. We’re only one day in so far, but what a day it’s been! Check out these likely fashion trends 2018.
Tom Ford
The first show of the season was Tom Ford who brought us serious 90s nostalgia, bold colours and a star studded FROW. The collection was filled with bold shoulders, palazzo pants and the shade of the moment – millennial pink. With superstars Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner gracing the catwalk, and a FROW filled with Chaka Khan, Kim Kardashian West and Cindy Crawford – people were talking about more than just the clothes.
Ulla Johnson
A runway adorned with wild flowers, this collection displayed the epitome of spring with soft, flowing fabrics and muted colours.
Sachin and Babi
Taking their inspiration from Turkey and the historical influence of the Ottoman empire, this collection featured distinctive silhouettes and sequins – lots of sequins.
Tadashi Shoji
Taking their influence from Malibu, this collection oozes West coast bohemian cool. The models walked to the sounds of Bob Marley and the Beach Boys, and the FROW was filled with the best of young Hollywood.
Calvin Klein
Rounding off the first day was one of the big guns – Calvin Klein. The labels latest outing was headed up by Raf Simons, previously of Dior and he brought his own distinct style to the collection. A very American affair with new twists on diner uniforms and Warhol prints adorning many of the pieces, the show also saw the debut of Caia Gerbert – Cindy Crawford’s 16-year-old daughter and future top model.
